Why go into one store, when you can walk into tens at once? This is the allure of the luxury department store. A mall dedicated to only the best in clothing, accessories, fragrances & more. I’m going to share a few of my favorites. I encourage you all to check them out!
TheRealReal

TheRealReal is very unique to the space. I wanted to start off with it for a few reasons:
- You can both buy and sell luxury goods: Imagine Bloomingdale’s and Grailed had a love child. Not only can you walk into the store and shop around, but you can sell items as well!
- Sign up to shop online is required: On one hand, I think the required registration can be a bit off-putting. However, it’s nice to have an account that gives suggestions based on your browsing and purchasing preferences.
In a space that can be crowded at times, not to mention the fact that they are aggregators who don’t sell their own products, it’s important to find a way to stand out.
Neiman Marcus

Having finally migrated to New York City, Neiman Marcus continues to expand its global reach. Over 100 nations worldwide! The integrated luxury retailer has over 5.1 million gross square feet in stores in the United States alone. Not only that, but their site has easy access to all of your favorite designer goods.
Premium Outlets

The main allure of Premium Outlets, in comparison to the two department stores listed above, is the big discounts on luxury items. The experience in general is a bit more casual. Looking at the photo above, you see brands like Puma and Adidas mixed in with your usual suspects like Coach and Burberry. I think the balance between the two makes more a fun experience which might do a bit less damage to your wallet.
Whether you prefer TheRealReal vs Neiman Marcus vs Premium Outlets, or retail vs online department stores, I find these types of stores to be the single most fun shopping experiences. As I said in the intro, why go to one store when you can hit them all at once?
