A February New Year’s Resolution Check-In

Some of you may have gotten anxiety reading this title. Resolutions can be hard! When we don’t see immediate results it can be damaging to our pride. My resolution was to run 10 miles a week. Here’s how it’s going:

I started by doing 5 miles a week. My goal was 1 mile 5 times a week. Sometimes it’s spread out over 3 days, sometimes over 6. Regardless, I try to never make an excuse.

One thing that helped me was splurging on HOKA running shoes. Psychology studies show that sometimes making a big purchase can entice someone to commit to their goal, as the investment serves as a reminder to follow through.

These shoes are a bit more expensive than your traditional brands, but with good reason. They’re very trendy and ergonomical. I also love the variety of colorways they offer. The photo above shows a mere fraction of what’s available.

As far as workout clothes go, I found PSD, a lesser-known company that specializes in underwear. The thing is, workout clothes are basically underwear, so I figured why not go with someone who excels there.

They have a variety of options in terms of both colors and type of clothes. Whether you’re a leggings enjoyer or prefer shorts, you can find an affordable option that fits your wardrobe pretty easily.

So, whats the current update on my resolution? It’s going very well! I did the first 2 weeks at 5 miles a week before upgrading to 10. It’s important to be kind to yourself and not force 10 miles right away if you’re not ready.

I’m going to continue doing it for as long as possible. I’ll let you guys know how I’m holding up later in the year!
